Parent Support Group

 MomsBabies

The Infant Stimulation Program of Community Care Connections, Inc. hosts a parent support group on the last Thursday of every month from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm for children and families that have children with developmental delays or disabilities and need support from peers.

Each month there is a featured topic with open discussion time for parents.  In addition to the parent meeting, childcare is provided for children.  The structured activities for children are provided by therapists of the Infant Program.  Light refreshments for adults and children are available.

Parents must RSVP to Melanie Mitro, Director ISP if they would like to attend at 724-283-3198 x 250 or mmitro@communitycareconnect.org.   This allows for proper staff to child ratio.

October 30, 2008:  This month Family Pathways will be presenting on mental health and its effects on child development.  If a child or family is dealing with mental health issues, they can affect a child's ability to learn and grow.  Specifically, the Kids First program focuses on promotion, prevention and treatment of children and families with mental health problems.  If you are concerned about your child's development or possible mental health concerns, please come and hear Family Pathways talk about ways they can help you work through these tough times.  Bring all of your questions and concerns and get good advice from local experts!

Thursday November 20, 2008:  This month a representative from Wesley Children and Family Services will be present to talk about the signs of Autism Spectrum Disorders and wraparound services.  This individual will discuss the types of treatment available through wraparound as well as the process to receive services.  There will also be a time for parents to network and share other questions or concerns regarding their child.

Thursday January 29, 2009:  This month the Special Instruction Teachers from Community Care Connections, Inc. will be present to talk about Routines Based Early Intervention Services and how you can be an active participant in your child's therapy sessions.  They will give you tips and techniques to maximize the services you receive through Early Intervention.  There will also be a time for networking with other parents.  Please RSVP by Monday January 26, 2009 to mmitro@communitycareconnect.org or 724-283-3198 x 250.
